A SHIFT 5-4-2009
Engine 4 was first due on a large cardboard box and
recycled paper fire next to a structure at on E. 28th
St. Engine 4 arrived and advised working fire with
extension to the building and assumed command. Command
advised Engine 7 to reverse out to the hydrant and for
Ladder 4 to come to Engine 4 and set up the Ladder.
Engine 4 pulled a 2 ½” attack line to the fire that had
extended to the building and extinguished the building
fire with the help of Engine 7’s crew. Ladder 4 flowed
the ladder pipe and a 2 ½” while Engine 4 was flowing
the deck gun and one 1 ¾” attack line for a brush fire
off to the side. A 2nd alarm was called due to the large
pile of cardboard and the growing brush fire. Eventually
it went to a 3rd alarm for manpower.
