B SHIFT 2-27-2009
Engine 4 was dispatched to a house fire at 3809 Avalon Ave.  Engine 13 arrived first reporting smoke and fire showing, with fire thru the roof.  Engine 4’s first assignment was RIT, and then later assigned to do a secondary search, which was negative.  Extensive fire damage to the first floor.  Companies that responded were: Batt. 3, 1, Engine 13, 5, 10, 4, Ladder 13, & Rescue 10.

B SHIFT 2-27-2009
Out with the old, in with the new. The new Engine 4 has arrived and was put into service. The new engine is a Smeal on a Spartan Gladiator cab. It has a 515 horsepower Detroit Diesel engine with an Allison transmission and carrying 500 gal. of water. The pump is rated at 600 GPM @ 600 psi. for the high-rise structures in the Uptown area. Photos are from Smeal taken when the truck was delivered.

A SHIFT  2-12-2009
Engine 4 responded to a working house fire on St. Paul St. Companies that responded were: Batt. 3, 6, 1, Engine 5, 11, 4, 13, Ladder 18,  & Rescue 10.

B SHIFT  2-01-2009
Engine 4 was dispatched to assist on the working fire on Iverson Way. Upon Eng. 2’s arrival they had 1 house fully involved with fire spread to both houses in divisions B & D. Our first assignment was to take a 2nd line into the structure in division B and extinguish the fire in the attic. After an air bottle change, we assisted with pulling ceiling and more suppression. 5 homes were affected by the fire. The original home was under construction and was completely destroyed.
